- Edward H. Bryden, 91, of Clinton, died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at his home in Clinton on Veteran's Day.
Funeral Services will be 10 am, Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Clinton AMVETS post #28. Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Ready, Rick Kowzic, Capt. Aaron Khosrovani, Pete Francois, Matt Kuhnau, John Staszewski, Chad Reed, and Charles Anderson. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
Edward Hazlett Bryden was born October 26, 1919 to Walter and Jenny (Catron) Bryden in Clinton, Iowa. He married Lois Lass on March 14, 1942 at Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton, she died July 30, 1999.
He worked for Clinton Corn as an electrician for 38 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a WWII Veteran serving in Europe from 1943-1946. He was a charter member of the AMVETS Post #28. He spent many afternoons at the AMVETS with his friends. He passed away on Veterans Day. Thank you for your service to our Country, Ed. Ed loved the river, boating, fishing, family and friends. He spent a lot of mornings with his 9:00 coffee club at Hardees. He was also involved in the flag burning at the AMVETS on Veteran's Day.
Edward was a member of Clinton AMVETS post #28 and Zion Lutheran Church.
He is survived by two daughters: Suzanne (Harold) Ready of Clinton and Nancy (Paul) Heun of Erie, Illinois. one son: James E. (Jan Gillen) Bryden of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, and sister, Louise Scheer-Nelson.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice or the AMVETS Post #28.
