JAMES FASKEN BRYDON MSC., P. ENG. Passed away at the McCall Centre, Trillium Hospital on June 8, 2008 at the age of 86 with his family by his side. There was no fading of his strong character to the end.
Beloved husband of the late Marion Brydon (2001). Dear Father of Christine (Jack) and Jeffrey (Barbara). Devoted Grandfather of Saskia (Vanderloo) and Laura (Brydon), the apples of his eye. Predeceased by his parents, Alexander Brydon and Margaret Card, brothers Douglas and William and sister Marion. Survived by nine nieces and nephews. The support that Jim received from his sister-inlaw, Catherine Ackman, and her family was unwavering.
Jim was a proud chemical engineer who dedicated his professional life to PPG Industries Canada for 41 years. He was passionately interested in conceptualizing and implementing improvements in the scientific and mechanical world around him. A fiercely independent, analytical thinker, he was driven by a profound sense of duty and caring reflected in the many quiet, unsung ways that he contributed to and cared for the well-being of family, friends and the community at large. Dad and Grandpa, you will be so sorely missed.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Drs. Bruce Hickey and Tom Rebane and to the exceptional staff at the McCall Centre. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter 'Peel' Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St. (Hwy. 10, N. of QEW) on Sunday June 15, 2008 from 25 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday June 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. Those wishing to make a donation on Jim's behalf may do so to the charity of their choice.
He did his M.A. thesis, "The solubility of soaps and fatty acids", at the University of Western Ontario in 1945.
