- Shirley Margaret Algie, on the 14th of November, 2008 at the age of 79. Her beloved husband, Wallace Lloyd Algie followed her one week later, on the 22nd of November, at the age of 82, both in Kingston, Ontario. Mom was born and raised in Toronto with her beloved sister Violet, who survives her, and her mother, Elsie Hammond (n?e Hickton). Her father, Harry Albert Hammond, died tragically before she was born. She worked as the accounts payable officer for Waterline Products and Uddeholme. The son of Robert and Josephine Algie (n?e Gordon), Dad was born in Moncton N.B. where he was raised along with his beloved sister and brothers Peggy, Gordon and Bruce. Dad worked as an HVAC technologist and marketing manager for Trane, Slant/Fin, and his own Assembled Energy Technologies. A life member of ASHRAE he founded and was president of the Hamilton chapter and eventually, Toronto Region II director. They retired to Trenton and then to Belleville taking up arts and crafts, Shirley quilting and watercolour painting, Lloyd painting in oil and wood carving. Shirley wished to express gratitude to her life-long friend, Rita Van Loon and her husband, George. Loving parents and grandparents of Susan Ranchod, her husband Dino Ranchod and their children Joel, Alex and Dana, and of Glenn Algie, his wife, Lucy Corbin and their children Charlotte, Breanna, Connor and Gage, and of Ian Algie, his wife Antonella Vittore and their children Nicholas and Sebastian. Thanks to all the family for their loving care; also to Dr. Maraj; Dr. Campbell; Dr. Hookee, the V.O.N. and Access Centre Belleville. A memorial service to celebrate their extraordinary lives will be held at the Bay of Quinte Golf and Country Club at a later date.
