Our Family's Journey Through Time
Captain John Brydon
"In the critical period between the two first assaults a gallant act occurred that reflected the highest credit upon the bravery and zeal of Captain Brydon, of the 118th, for which he received the brevet of major. Twenty-two pieces of cannon, several battle flags and numerous prisoners were among the results of this enterprise which secured to the Union army an important position that was never relinquished."
