- Mrs. Adam Bryden, "a venerable woman, who had been residing with her daughter, Mrs. Solomon Carpenter, 806 Wyoming avenue West Pittston, for several years, died yesterday morning at nine o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Burnett, at Nanticoke, where she had been visiting. Mrs. Bryden went to Nanticoke a week ago and it is thought she contracted a cold in making the trip. Complications developed and she passed away after a week's illness. Mrs. Bryden was born in Carmarthenshire, South Wales, May 18, 1S40, the daughter of John and Hannah Davis and was in her 74th year. When a girl of ten her parents immigrated to America and settled in Pittston. Mr. Davis for many years conducting a farm at Yatesville. On April 21, 1863, she was united in marriage to Adam P. Bryden, of Pittston. who survives her. For many years Mr. and Mrs. Bryden resided on Railroad street, Pittston, and for the past six years had been making their home with their daughter, Mrs. Carpenter, in West Pittston. Mrs. Bryden affiliated with the Welsh Baptist church when a girl of fourteen years, having been an active member for sixty years. Besides her hushand she is survived by one son, Rev. James D. Bryden, pastor of the Dorrs nceton Baptist church, and three daughters: Mrs. AAr. J. Burnett, of Nanticoke; Mrs. Solomon Carpenter and Miss Hannah Bryden of West Pittston. Also one sister, Mrs. Ann Davis, of Pittstcn. The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon from the Carpenter home, Wyoming avenue. Services will be conducted by Rev. AV. D. Thomas, pastor of the Pittston Welsh Baptist church assisted by Rev, L. E. Cat! in, pastor of the Water Street Baptist church. Internment will be in Pittston cemetery.
