- WINDHAM - Lawrence E. Brydon, 76, of Park Road, died Sunday evening, January 6, 2002 at Maine Medical Center following a long illness.Mr. Brydon was born in Westbrook, a son of Elvin L. and Marie (Gundersen) Brydon.
Mr. Brydon was awarded the Purple Heart, five Battle Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal.In 1946 he returned home to finish high school and later attended Portland Junior College.Mr. Brydon was in the banking business for over 30 years and retired as Assistant Vice President of the former Maine National Bank. He was a member of Cornerstone Lodge of Masons, Yates Lodge of Perfection, Portland Council of Prince of Jerusalem, and served as Soverign Prince from 1978-1980.He was also a member of Dunlop Chapter of Rose Croix, Maine Consistory, Maine College Society Rose Crucian and Treasurer of the Scottish Rite from 1981-1992.Mr. Brydon was honored as a 33 degree Mason in St. Louis, Missouri in 1982.Mr. Brydon was a past member of the Woodford's Club, Bank of Commerce, Maine Bankers Association, and the 60 Plus Club.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years Arline Barbara Bridge Brydon of Windham; a son, Wesley K. Brydon of Windham; two daughters, Mrs. David (Cheryl M.) MacKinnon of Raymond and Carolyn G. Brydon of Standish; a sister, Barbara Brydon of Westbrook; a brother, Reverend Norman Brydon of Westbrook; three grandchildren, Jason Brydon, Jessica and Elijah MacKinnon.
