- BRYDEN, James Robert Born February 4, 1920 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on May 7, 2009. He will be lovingly missed and forever remembered by Pearl, his wife of 68 years; his son, Murray (Jeanne); grandchildren, Lisa, Chad (Elizabeth) and Craig and his two dear great-granddaughters, Avery and Peyton, who always brought a smile to his face. After coming to Victoria in 1950, Jim worked at Eatons and Stylerite Shoes before becoming a furniture salesman at Woodwards, a career that he enjoyed for 20 years. He served faithfully at Victoria Gospel Chapel and Lambrick Park Church and for the last 10 years at The Church of the Nazarene, where they enjoyed the fellowship of the SHARPS Seniors Group and also spent several years working at the Compassionate Resource Warehouse. Over the past months at Mt. Tolmie Hospital, Jim and Pearl have appreciated the visits and calls from their many friends. Jim was a kind and gentle man who loved helping others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Graveside Service will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park at 12:30 pm on Thursday, May 14, 2009. A Memorial Service will follow at the Church of the Nazarene, 4277 Quadra Street, at 2:00 pm. Donations can be made to The First Church of the Nazarene or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Susan Matthews and the wonderful caring staff at Mt. Tolmie Hospital. We also acknowledge the staff at VGH, Neuroscience and Rehab wards for their excellent care.
