      Robert and his wife and family emigrated to Canada on the ship "Lovely Nelly", in 1775 spending a first terrible winter at Georgetown, P.E.I. (Then called St. John's Island.) The next spring they moved to Pictou Co., NS and settled on the Middle River. Their location on the Middle River was at Rocklin, where between himself and his sons they had a grant of 950 acres.
