- J. Paul Jones, aged 70, of Hartwick, died February 19 in the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, where he had been a patient for five weeks. He was born September 17, 1891, in Richfield Springs, the son of Peter and Ella (Darling) Jones. He married Elenor Bradley on August 7, 1915 in Hartwick. He was a former employee of the Southern New York Railway and for a number of years operated a dairy farm on Christian Hill before he retired in 1958. Since then he has lived in the Village of Hartwick. He was a member and past master of Schuyler Lake Lodge, F&AM; a member of Hartwick Lodge, IOOF; a member of Hartwick Chapter OES, of Hartwick Methodist Church, Hartwick Grange and past secretary of Otsego County Dairymen's League. For 21 years he was a Justice of the Peace of the Town of Hartwick. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Robert D. of Skaneateles and Donald A. of Wappinger Falls; three daughters, Mrs. J. W. Garvin of Hartwick, Mrs. Arthur Cassada of Winthrop, and Mrs. Cecil Hoose of Mount Vision; a sister, Mrs. Harold Carey of Buffalo; ten grandchildren, a niece and several cousins ... "
