- BRYDON, The Rev. Dr. Douglas Alexander, BSA DD - Minister, Rotarian, community builder, arts patron, gardener and life-long learner. Douglas Brydon passed away at Southampton, on May 25, 2007, in his 96th year, after a long and fulfilling life. Doug will be remembered fondly by his children: John (Sharon), Linda (Gary Mather), Mary (John Cruse) and daughter-in-law Rosemary; his grandchildren David and Katie (Rob Bajac), Kim (Brian Lelacheur) and Rob, Emily, Chantal (Robert Matheson); great-grandchildren Rory and Scarlett Matheson; his brother Jim and other family members. All who knew him feel blessed to have had him in their lives. Doug was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean, his son Bob, his brother Bill, his sister Marion Jean, and his sister-in-law Marion. The family wishes to thank Bruce and Isabelle MacDougall for their enduring friendship, the members of the Southampton Rotary club for their loyalty, and the congregation of Southampton United Church for their prayers and support. We wish to say a special thank-you to Mary Stokes and the entire staff at Hampton Court for their compassionate and loving care. Visitation at the EAGLESON FUNERAL HOME, Southampton, on Sunday May 27 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Celebration of Doug's life will be held at the Southampton United Church on Monday May 28, 2007 at 1 p.m. A time of fellowship and sharing will follow at the Church. If desired, donations in memory of Doug may be made to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada, the Southampton Rotary Club or any of the local community organizations Doug supported.
