Mr Walter Brydon, whose shop was at the head of Main Street, and whose cheerful face and kindly countenance was so long seen beaming there! He was born in Roxboroughshire, Scotland, in March, 1830, and brought to Canada the same year. His parents settled on a farm in the Township of King, County of York. Here Mr. Brydon lived till the fall of 1847, when he came to Galt a lad of seventeen, and carried on the business of carriage building. He united with the church under the Rev. John James and continued in membership until his death on Nov. 30th 1897. He was a man of highly benevolent disposition, always ready to help in time of trouble...He had a long and sore sickness that ended his earthly pilgrimage...
