- Elizabeth Blair Brydon, 69, of the 3400 block of Sea Horse Way, passed away May 26, 2008, in her home. A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and James Blair Sr. and the widow of James Cairns Brydon. She was a teacher of fine needlework at the Hook & I of Virginia Beach. She was a very devout Christian all of her life and active member of Lynnhaven United Methodist Church. She was a member of the choir, United Methodist Women and the Friendship Circle. She belonged to the Seaside Smockers Guild of Tidewater where she was past president and held many other offices in the guild. She was an avid gardener and a talented cook of Scottish cuisine. She was also a couturier designer who provided garments for the current Queen Elizabeth II. She was a beloved mother and loyal friend. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine M. Brydon of Virginia Beach; and her family of the heart, Zena Craig and Keith Samuel of Edinburgh, Scotland, Capt. and Mrs. John W. Newell (U.S. Navy retired), Dr. Jennifer Newell Ferris, Anne Newell Richie and Maj. John W. Newell Jr., U.S. Army; and eight grandchildren whom she loved very much. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lynnhaven United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Maddrey officiating. She will be entombed in the church columbarium. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
