Helen Millar Daughter George Millar and Mary Adelaide Brydon
Notes
Helen was born in 1920 and raised as a farm girl on a dryland farm in Southern Alberta to the late George and Mary A. (Brydon) Millar. That began a lifelong love for animals and gardens that provided her endless hours of satisfaction. It also gave her the background necessary for providing the love, friendship and practical advice that her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends so desperately needed.
She entered nursing in Lethbridge, Alberta, in 1941 and graduated shortly before taking up her full time career as an army wife in 1943. With her husband, Dr. Virgil Korth; she raised six kids, all boys, in nearly all parts of Canada. Just surviving that required a stalwart faith and a robust sense of humour. Helen had plenty of both.
Helen's family was her focus for the first thirty years of her marriage and her grandchildren took over keeping her interested and entertained after that. Her family, her friends, her UCW and her church combined to provide a busy life; that she enjoyed to the fullest; she was also a member of The New Brunswick Senior Citizens Association .
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.
Helen will live on in the hearts of her six sons; Bob and his wife Celia of BC, Donald and his wife Denise Cossaboom of Head of Millstream, David and his wife Pranee of Ottawa, Douglas of Carsonville, Peter and his wife Shelagh of Ottawa and Edward of Oromocto; a sister; Eileen Drummond and her husband David of Alberta; eight grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Helen M. Korth of Carsonville, passed away at her residence on September 9, 2010 at the age of 90.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr Virgil Korth who passed away in 1987; her brother; Bruce Millar and by two sisters; Grace Laycraft and Agnes Bichler.
