Hallowe’en coming up. Thanks this week to Lauren who sent in some headstone photos from the Fraser Cemetery in New Westminster, British Columbia. I’ve added in bits of the James ‘Ettrick Shepherd’ Hogg family. I’ve no connection to his family that I’ve found but I’ll give it a bit more of a go.

Fall is here so quickly! Thanks go to Gillian who wrote to add info to the Leitch family from (Ayrshire to Williamstown, Ont.). Kayla let me know there’s a new baby girl in her brother’s family. Congrats to them. Thanks to Martin who sent me a wee bit about his Lanarkshire Brydons who ventured to British Columbia.

A little catch up with email: Julie and I discussed whether James Brydon is in fact a son of William. If true then there’s a common parent to an Australian line of Brydons and my Ontario Brydons. Duncan emailed with info on the McPhail family. John sent in some photos for his Brydon Brass Brydons. Lynn corrected some info on her family, descendants of those I call the Stalwart Brydons. Thanks to all them. Just recently Joan sent in some photos of the William Algie family. Many thanks to her.

An email from Malcolm adds info to the Cleghorns a family that came from Roxburghshire and settled in Wellington Co., Ontario. Thank you! Also thanks to Lori and Leslie who added info to the family of Richard Ross, a gentleman who married my great grandaunt Ellen.

Got a nice email from Scott adding info to his part of the Brydon-Burnett line. Thanks go to him. Scott’s in Virginia which reminds me to mention the Brydon lines that went from Ontario to the States: Here’s two: John Brydon & Mary Ann Pearson whose g.grandkids end up in New Jersey and David Brydon & Margaret whose descendants went to Illinois.

Gave the website an update. The menu on the left now emphasizes all the larger Brydon families and each tab has a sub menu with family features you can click.

More info from James of the Brydon Young line: Walter Brydon’s oral history telling of the family’s life in Ontario and of the family’s settling on the Manitoba prairie. Read it here.

Added a photo to the main page that my grandfather took in the late 20s. This’d be northern Peel County, Ontario. The gravel road is lined with a zig zagging pair of split rail fences. Lets just call this pic ‘View from Caledon’.

I’ve found where the Brydon Brass crew lived in 1901: near Edinburgh. The Brydon-McLaren line had lived there earlier on. I’ve got 1841 census data on them. For people related to me I’ve got 1901 data on my grandmother’s family, the Sims.

A trip to Ontario (aka Dead Brydon Tour 2010) allowed me to get a bunch more headstone photos. I also picked up a lot of family pictures that will be making their way onto this site over the next month or two.
