  • Notes
    • "A pioneer wool manufacturer in Canada, who in the days when Atlantic crossings were trips of several weeks, travelled back and forth to England forty-five times in the interests of business."
Acton Free Press (Acton, ON), 1 Oct 1942, p. 4

The Benjamin and Constance's family included ten children, two of whom were born in Ontario. Son B.F. (Benjamin Franklin) Ward was a veterinarian. Son William was a psychiatrist in Terrytown, New York.

Family lore claims his company was the source of "O.K." approval expressions.

He came to US at 18, a son of a manufacturer in Nottingham, England and was a descendant of Humble Ward, who was knighted by the king, and became the founder of the Dudley family, the head of which is present Earl Dudley of Castle Dudley.
