      Drs. David & Robt. Archer - Dr. David Archer set up practice in Port Perry in 1891 as a general practitioner. Dr. Robert Archer joined his brother in 1897, and was an accomplished surgeon. The brothers built a medical clinic on the south side of Queen St. and were two of the most respected doctors to have ever practiced in the town.

      Harold Archer was presented a medal by the Royal Humane Assoc. for saving the life of two young people, Miss Dhel Purdy and Mr. Earl Whiteway, who were out skating when the ice gave away in Dec. 1909.

      Mr. Rogerson is converting the ground floor of the St. Charles Hotel into two stores, one from which Mr. Harold Archer will conduct his hardware business.

      Sept 1926
      Harold Archer was shot in the thigh in attempt to stop tire thieves. The car was later found smashed up and abandoned, but the men escaped.

      Aug 1929
      Harold Archer returned from a 3,075 mile trip to Winnipeg and back to Port Perry in his Pontiac Six, taking 5 days to complete the round-trip journey.

      Jul 1930
      Harold R. Archer starts on 3,200 mile trip to Vancouver in a Pontiac car, via Chicago, accompanied by Murray Williams and expects to make trip in five days.

      Oct 1930
      Four Toronto men caught raiding Peel's Poultry Farm, knocked out Ronald Peel and escaped in a car. The thieves were chased by Mr. Peel, Chief Nesbitt and Harold Archer to Myrtle where the car left the road injuring one. The other three were placed under arrest.

      A Moderately calm sea greeted Class D runabouts for the Canadian Championship on Sept. 7th. Outstanding in this series was Harold Archer of Port Perry in his slick Chris-Craft Dilkusha which not only established a Canadian record but was seconds short of making a world mark. We prophesy that he will do that before very long. He has a fine boat.
