  He graduated from Western University. He worked for Imperial Oil in Calgary; played professional football in Calgary and Hamilton. He was on the Hamilton team in 1953 when it won the Grey Cup. He ran a dairy farm for seven years; served on municipal council in Brampton for six years; taught in Fergus, Brampton and Simcoe county. Later was a vice-principal, a principal for 11 years and a superintendent for eight years.
