  • Notes
    • Orphaned before the age of five, he was brought up by his aunts, Elizabeth, Isabella and Catherine Hall.
William attended the one room Crawford school, west of Linton in King twp., about 40 rods from the Hall family home.
His junior matriculation was at the Woodbridge High School and his senior at the Annette St. school in West Toronto.
To earn money for college he taught public school both at his old Crawford school then at Coventry in Peel County, about four miles from the Hall house. His first year's salary was $250.
He injured a knee in a game of rugby in Brampton that kept him from playing football in college.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Toronto 1907.
He started practising medicine in Brampton in 1907 at the practise of his uncle, Dr. William Hall.

His photo albums show him on outings with Ethel Dale in 1912.

He drove throughout Peel County to do house calls in his Model T Ford. His hand was broken while cranking a balky engine that kicked back.

He was active in community affairs. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Rotary Club. He was a staunch supporter of the Liberal Party.
1931, he won awards at the Can. National Exhibition for his standard bred horses.
1933, In August he purchased the Brampton Dairy in partnership with R.W. Lowry
1934, June 11: He was treating Rev. Ewan Macdonald, husband of Lucy Maud Montgomery, with an "Electric head treatment". Electricity was thought to be very beneficial then.

He was appointed Peel County coroner in February 1936.
In 1946 he was made a lifetime member of the Ontario Medical Association.
In 1950 Dr. Brydon instituted the Brydon award, a diamond ring to be awarded to the physician in District 5 of the OMA who has made an outstanding contribution to medicine.
Also in 1950 he donated a bell to Grace United Church in memory of his son Ted who was killed in the last year of World War 2.
One writer had estimated that in 53 years of practise Dr. Brydon had delivered 2000 babies and been on duty 96,725 days as of Mar. 28, 1960.
