    • Thomas Bryden, 81, retired Fort Scott business man died yesterday afternoon at 1.20 at Mt. Carmel Hospital following injuries received in a motor car accident Saturday night, one fourth mile east of Croweburg. Ka.

      The body was brought to Fort Scott and the funeral will be held tomorrow at 9.30 at the Cheney Memorial chapel. The Rev. E.W. Young will officiate. Internment will be made beside the wife at Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City.

      Mr. Bryden was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on April 10, 1863. He served an apprenticeship as a blacksmith and tempereras a boy in Scotland.

      He came to America in 1880 and settled at Wilkes Barre, Pa. where he resided five years. He then moved to Kansas City where he entered the mercantile business.

      He came to Fort Scott about 30 years ago and established the Bryden Auto Supply Co. on Market Street, which still bears his name. He retired from active business about five years ago.

      He is survived by a brother, John Bryden, North Shields, England. Other relatives include W.J. Bryden of Topeka Kansas, a cousin Tom of Pratt Kansas, a cousin Hugh of Osage Kansas, a cousin Isabel Sternad of Shaker Heights Ohio, a niece Mrs John Osborne of Scranton Pa, a niece and other relatives in Scotland and England.

      W.J. Bryden of Topeka Ka, who is well known in Fort Scott was unable to be at the bedside, because of ill health.

      At the time of the accident Mr. Bryden was returning to Fort Scott from Mulberry where he had been visiting Jim McCullough, a boyhood friend.

      Mr. Bryden was a member of the Scottish Clan MacLean lodge No.9 of Kansas City. Members of the lodge will meet the funeral party at the cemetery.
