  • Notes
    • Duncan Bryden, a well known Fredericton business man, or as many knew him "Flower Man", passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on November 28, 2006. Born in Mates Corner, Westmorland County, NB he was a son of the late John and Kathleen (Campbell) Bryden.

Duncan loved the retail business and moved to Charlottetown in 1955 as sales manager of the new T. Eaton store. The 15 years he spent in PEI were very active. He was a volunteer with the Parkdale and Sherwood Fire Departments, the Sherwood Police Department and a member of Zion Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir.
In 1970 he moved his family to Fredericton, where he took on the role of business owner when he operated the Carousel Card & Flower Shop on Queen Street and later purchased Trites Flower Shop on Woodstock Road. In 2000 he combined the two businesses.

Duncan was a family man and he regarded his customers as important friends. He enjoyed coffee and as many would say "chewing the fat" with his buddies. He loved duck hunting, playing golf and playing cards, but most of his time was devoted to building his business.

He is survived by his loving wife Vera (Fury); his daughter Lynda Lee; his sons Wade (Lisa) and Roderick; his grandchildren Sonya, Craig and Isaiah; three brothers Ian of Courtney, BC, John (Lori) of Bayfield, NB and Rod (Sandy) of Ottawa, ON; numerous nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by brothers Robert and Donald.
Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road with visitation Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be Friday December 1, 2006 at 2:00 pm from Bishops Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Blaikie officiating. Interment will be at the cemetery in Point de Bute, NB.
