    • In the 1842 Census of Canada West, Township of Dumfries Page 9, a Mrs. Hogg is listed at Sub 2-10. She is listed as a tenant of Robt. Dickson and employed as a Farmer. There were 7 residents in the household; 4 were natives of Scotland and 3 natives of Canada (British). The household members not native to Canada were listed as being in the country for 12 years. There were 3 females between the ages of 5 and 14 yrs, 1 single male between 14 and 18 yrs, 1 single male between 18 and 21 yrs, 1 single female between 14 and 45 yrs, and 1 single female older than 45 yrs. All 7 residents were members of the Church of Scotland. The total land occupied was given as 87 acres, of which 42 acres were improved land. In 1841 the farm produced 150 bushels of wheat, 20 bushels of oats, 2 bushels of Indian corn, 100 bushels of potatoes, 40 lbs of maple sugar, 27 yds of linen, and 40 lbs of wool. Livestock owned included 16 cattle, 29 sheep, and 10 hogs. Stated tenure of land = A.

      According to the obituary index in the City of Cambridge Archives, a Mrs. Hogg died 15 July, 1860 in Dumfries, mother of George and James, age 64.

      Notice of death from the Galt Reporter, dated July 1860, reads: In Dumfries, on Sabbath day, the 15th instant, Mrs. Hogg, mother of Messrs George and James Hogg, aged 64 years.

      The inscription on the Hogg monument reads: Francis Hogg/ Died 1841/ His wife Margaret Brydon/ Died 1860/ Natives of Selkirkshire Scotland/ George Hogg 1860-1932/ His wife Agnes Ford/ 1862-1940.
