He was killed in action near Armentieres, France. He was Captain of the 6th Maurani Regiment at the time.

Mr. Sigman served in the Army during World War II.

Prior to his retirement, he worked in Lowell at The Sun's maintenance department for more than 20 years.

Mr. Sigman was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Lowell. He was an avid bingo player.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis J. and Marisele Sigman of Lawrence and Roland Sigman of Lowell; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela A. and Jose Benitez of Lowell; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pauline and Harvey Legere of Lowell and Simone Therrien of Nashua; two brothers, Victor M. Sigman and Roger G. Sigman, both of Lowell; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Anita Paquin, Rita Paquin and Jeanne Sigman.

He lost sight in his right eye at age 12 from an arrow he shot straight up.
He worked in a grainery then as Brampton's first Town Constable and later still at the Dale Estate. There's more: he then was Town Clerk, Town Councillor, Deputy Reeve, then Reeve, then Mayor. He was also Warden of the County of Peel in the 1920's.
He died in the evening while listening to news on the radio.
